Tour guide and MCV member Jim Miller will lead a private, slower paced tour of the Wisconsin State Capitol. This will be a more in-depth tour than given to the general public, getting into rooms the public cannot access (assuming they are open and not in use). Will discuss why the Capitol was located in Madison, how many Capitols Wisconsin has had, etc., along with a visit to the Observation deck (weather permitting). You need to be able to walk up 48 steps in order to get to the Observation deck (one of the few Capitols in the nation that have one). If you are not comfortable walking up 48 steps to the observation deck, but want to attend the tour, contact Jim and he will give you instructions on how to do that. This tour is open to club members, friends & family. There is no cost for the tour but please register online so we have a count of attendees.
Tour Date: Wednesday, October 4th 2023 Where: Meet in the Capitol, “ground floor” near Information desk. Parking: As this is not a “drive your Corvette” event, we normally park in the Capitol Square North Garage Ramp located at 218 E. Mifflin. It is a 10-minute walk to the Capitol information desk from there. Time: The tour will start promptly at 2:30 pm and will last around 2 hours. Weather permitting, we will go to the observation deck first. Depending on where you park, allow a little extra time to get inside the Capitol as there will be traffic this time of day.
For those that are interested, we may wander across the street to an establishment after the tour for a beverage. The tour will be capped at 50 participants.
