Woods, waters, coulees, bridges and vettes! Sounds like fun!
Kath and Jeff Scott are planning a drive out on Sat. May 15 to encompass many of the scenic areas of the SW Wisconsin drift less area. This will be both an enjoyable ride that we will be able in some parts let our vettes “breathe” and view some of the amazing vistas that this area has to offer.
Our drive will be cruising through La Farge (planned stop) then on through Viroqua, Genoa and De Soto. We will be ultimately going to Mt. Hosmer City Park in Lansing, Iowa where we will climb up the 450’ high bluff that overlooks the Mississippi. Lots of switch backs! There is a pavilion with water and bathroom facilities for our use. Please bring your own picnic lunch. Hopefully the weather will cooperate as there will be no rain date.
Feel free to explore the Lansing area or proceed down to Prairie du Chien with us. There are many shops that are now open downtown including Cabela’s distribution center on the north side of town. If you still are hungry, Pete’s Hamburgers is downtown is well known in the Madison area.
Warning. Do not speed through Ferryville! The cops are notorious for pulling people over for 1 mph over the limit!
The trip will start at 10:00 am (drivers meeting at 9:45 am) from the Cennex station in Sauk City. The drive will stop about 1 ½ hr. in La Farge for a quick break then on to Lansing for lunch.
