Mineral Point dinner run report

From Steve McGilvrey:

Hi everyone,

Thanks to Bill and Diana Schultze for putting on a great run!!  We started off with tornado sirens at our start point and ran about a third of the run on dry roads. Light rain moved in for part of the run but we still had a great run on some fantastic roads. I can’t wait to run this course again someday when it’s dry. We ended up in Mineral Point at Cafe 4 who just happened to have a custom menu for us with Madcity Vettes on it. Great food and company. The run home was in heavy rain. I hope everyone made it home ok. Here’s the link for the photos.

Chili Bowl 2010 report

Written by Todd Mcilwee

Winners of the 2010 edition of the Mad City Vettes Chili Bowl held at Wauanabowl on February 20th.

Top Bowler (Men) Tony Walla 584
Top Bowler (Women) Barb Dickens 446
Chili Judge’s Choice Tony Walla
Chili People’s Choice Matt Lajter

Well once again another fun Chili Bowl. Numbers were down this year but not the excitement of the members that participated! This year we had 13 bowlers trying their best to get a good score. Top Bowler for the Men was Tony Walla. His 3 game total was 584. On the Ladies side Barb Dickens bowled a 446 for her 3 game total. After bowling we moved to the back room to judge the Chili and Desserts. Each year the chili contest becomes tougher and tougher. There are two categories for the Chili Contest. Judge’s Choice and People’s Choice. There were 6 to be judged this year. The Judges had a very hard time picking a favorite this year. After the debate they picked a winner. This years Judge’s Choice was Tony Walla. Next the members had a chance to taste. Two previous Champions had Chili in the contest. With one being a Champion last year. This year Matt Lajter took home the trophy. He was runner-up last year in Judge’s and People’s Choice. This year’s dessert portion had a little twist. Peanut butter was the secret ingredient that the bakers had to use. First place won by a single vote! This year Mary McIlwee won with her Peanut butter Pie. Once again some great door prizes were given out. A big thank you to Scott Chalmers. Once again he gave a beautiful piece of jewelry! I would also like to thank Scott Adler at Quaker Steak & Lube for his donation of two gift cards. Other people that donated were Rachael Stanley manager of Dotty’s Dumpling (great burger!) gave a gift card also. Also a thank you to the Bailey’s with helping with the bowling scores and selling tickets for the prizes. Overall a great day. Everyone had fun and we raised $118 (plus a donation from Mad City Vettes) for the Luke House Community Meal Program….. Thank you to everyone that participated and their donation to the Luke House.
